These were some of the key reflections from the dayInnovation and transformation in British and Spanish companies: The new frontiers between the two countries“, organized by the British Chamber at the offices of A&O Shearman in Madrid. The meeting highlighted the innovative nature of companies from both countries in key areas such as digitalization and sustainability.
The event highlighted the importance of strengthening public-private collaboration and the fundamental role of the UK and Spanish governments in promoting and supporting innovative policies developed by companies.
Teresa Risk, General Secretary of InnovationHe stated: “Without science there is no development, prosperity, or well-being. Health is at the heart of our lives, and it is where science has the greatest influence.” He also emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary cooperation for advancing innovation, as well as transnational collaboration: “Spain returns 11,68% of the European framework program,” Riesgo noted.
The secretary also highlighted the strong historical relationship between Spain and the United Kingdom in research and development, underlining that both countries share scientific publications, research programs and qualified talent, both in students and professionals.
For its part, William of Juan, Chairman of the British Chamber Innovation CommitteeHe pointed out "the enormous potential that Spain has to attract investment in R&D&I, as demonstrated by the British companies that operate here and generate great value in our country." The day concluded with two business roundtables, in which success stories of British and Spanish companies in sustainable and digital innovation were presented, with special attention to advances in artificial intelligence.
