Málaga-based MDG Advisors, a Member of the British Chamber of Commerce in Spain, Develops Its Own AI Solution for Professional Services Firms

The firm has created Genia Intelligence, an AI platform specialising in tax, accounting and employment advisory services, designed to bring advanced AI technology closer to mid-sized professional firms and adapt to the way they work.

Málaga, October 2026. Artificial intelligence is opening up a new chapter for professional services firms, but its adoption also presents significant challenges, particularly for businesses seeking to combine technological innovation with the demands of day-to-day client management.

Against this backdrop, MDG Advisors, a Málaga-based tax, accounting and employment advisory firm and member of the British Chamber of Commerce in Spain, has developed Genia Intelligence, its own artificial intelligence solution specifically designed to address the needs of the professional services sector.

Founded in Málaga in 2010, MDG Advisors began developing the project in September 2024. Genia was first introduced into the firm’s internal operations in January 2026 and is currently undergoing testing ahead of its commercial launch.

The project aims to share with other professional firms the knowledge and experience MDG Advisors has gained throughout its own digital transformation, with a particular focus on mid-sized practices.

The initiative reflects a conviction held by Miriem Diouri García, Managing Partner of MDG Advisors: adopting artificial intelligence is not simply about introducing new tools, but about rethinking how work is organised, identifying the tasks that consume the most resources and understanding where technology can genuinely add value.

“Before considering automation, we had to analyse the way we worked. We needed to understand our processes, identify where mistakes occurred and determine which tasks could be improved. You cannot optimise something you do not fully understand,” explains Diouri.

Technology developed from professional experience

Unlike projects conceived exclusively from a technological perspective, Genia has been developed from within an operating professional advisory firm. Its design combines practical expertise in tax, accounting and employment matters with the work of a dedicated technology team.

The platform is designed to adapt to each firm’s existing processes, rather than requiring professionals to change their organisational structure to accommodate a new system. Its purpose is to make the integration of artificial intelligence into established workflows easier and reduce the difficulties that often accompany the introduction of new digital solutions.

“We once decided against implementing a CRM because we simply did not have the time to adapt our working methods to it. We want to approach things differently this time: Genia should adapt to the firm, not force the firm to reorganise itself completely in order to use it,” says the Managing Partner.

This philosophy addresses one of the main challenges facing the digital transformation of professional advisory firms: ensuring that technology reduces complexity rather than adding another layer of management. In a sector dealing with highly specialised tax, accounting and employment information, a thorough understanding of professional processes is essential to developing genuinely useful solutions.

Bringing AI within reach of mid-sized professional firms

Genia is aimed at a market where large organisations often have substantial technological resources, while smaller and mid-sized firms need accessible and practical ways to advance their digital transformation.

MDG Advisors aims to help bridge this gap through a specialised solution developed around real operational needs and designed to be made available to other firms across the sector.

The company has committed its own resources to the project and established a multidisciplinary team dedicated to its development. The next stage involves validating Genia in other professional environments and assessing whether the results achieved internally can be replicated in firms with different structures and working procedures.

“We want to make sure that we can achieve externally the same results we are already seeing within our own organisation. We have a particular responsibility because we intend to recommend this technology to professionals with whom we work and share experience,” says Diouri.

The initiative also represents a strategic business decision: reinvesting part of the resources generated by the firm’s advisory activities into developing technology based on its own professional knowledge and expertise.

“We believe we can add value to our profession by sharing what we have learned. Collaboration with other professionals has been fundamental to our growth, and we want to carry that philosophy into this new chapter,” she adds.

From traditional advisory services to a new way of working

Founded in 2010, MDG Advisors has a team of more than 25 professionals and serves approximately 450 clients from over 34 countries. From its base in Málaga, the firm has supported the growth of both Spanish and international businesses, operating in an increasingly interconnected business environment.

The creation of Genia opens a new business development area for the company and reflects a transformation that goes beyond the introduction of digital tools. The process has encouraged the team to reconsider the role of professionals, the value of accumulated knowledge and how work should be organised in an environment where artificial intelligence can take on an increasing number of functions.

For Diouri, the fundamental question is not simply what machines can do, but what people should contribute to a profession built on knowledge, expertise and trust.

“The transformation is not just technological; it is also cultural. Artificial intelligence forces us to question what we do, why we do it and where we can add greater value. Technology matters, but being clear about where we want to take it matters even more,” she concludes.

Genia Intelligence is currently undergoing testing ahead of its commercial launch. An open demonstration is already available on its website: www.geniaintelligence.com.

Through this initiative, MDG Advisors aims to share with the wider professional services sector the knowledge gained during its own transformation and contribute to making artificial intelligence a practical and accessible tool for professional advisory firms across Spain.
