The Business Vision for a Reformed EU

On October 23rd, members of the Chamber and the
British Embassy had the opportunity to attend an event with John Cridland,
Director General of the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), to hear him
speak about his visions for a reformed and prosperous European Union. The event
was held at the residence of the British Ambassador to Spain, Simon Manley, and
began with a buffet lunch which gave the guests the opportunity to chat and network
in the gardens and great weather. Following the lunch, the speeches began with
a welcome by Simon, and an introduction by the President of the British Chamber
of Commerce, Roger Cooke. John then spoke in depth and detail about the future
of the United Kingdom, Spain and the European Union, his interest in reforms
and ´the opportunity and obligation to deliver a more prosperous Europe´. Questions
were then posed by members of the audience to amplify the topics discussed by
John. This made for a very interesting, relevant and inspiring discussion on
the future of business and growth in the EU.
