Following a period of vigorous international expansion starting in 2001, IBERDROLA is Spain?s number one energy group, one of the four largest electricity companies in the world and a world leader in wind power, with operations in around 40 countries and more than 27 million customers. Its geographical footprint is primarily in the Atlantic area - Europe, the United States and Latin America - where continuing strong growth is expected in the next few years. Iberdrola is the leading energy group in Spain and one of the main operators in the United Kingdom following the integration of ScottishPower in 2007.
A firm and pioneering commitment to cleaner generation technology and respect for the environment have confirmed Iberdrola as world leader in wind power. Through its subsidiary, Iberdrola Renovables, it has an operating capacity of 9,302 MW and a project pipeline of more than 54,000 MW, half of which is in the United States.
Over the next few years, during which Iberdrola will continue with its international expansion, the focus will be on growth in renewable energy and on continuing efficiency improvements.
